Dream Within

after Purple Rain/Prince

Our love isn’t over. It was too cold
To run at peace. At peace with
Discernment we biked ahead of sirens
While gasping flying colors.
We have grown hollow.
We shed away black dots
From our left elbows.

In black from walls to ceilings,
with millipedes, puppy selfies—
bloated puffy faces in
white leather shorts—
mouthing about our awestruck
Life with in Purple Rain—

Like the dead corona of black roses
In his deeds—
We made the loving yeast.
