Artist Statement
These photographs were taken spontaneously on an iPhone, capturing moments that the poet found compelling in her day. This practice helps Whiteacre be mindful and observant. Whiteacre uses the Snapseed app to edit moments, cropping or filtering images to highlight details. She shares daily details that she hopes spark curiosity and storytelling.

Liz Whiteacre is a poet who explores accident, disability, aging, and wellness. In 2021, she developed a mindfulness practice of noting daily details through photograph posts on Instagram, which informs her poetry and has led to engaging with audiences with digital storytelling. Whiteacre is the author of the poetry chapbooks Hit the Ground (2013) and it could account for the panic (2025). Her poems have appeared in Wordgathering, Disability Studies Quarterly, Kaleidoscope, Breath & Shadow, Flying Island, and other publications. Her photographs have been published in The Mindful Phoenix Review and Last Leaves. Whiteacre is an associate professor of English at the University of Indianapolis.
