Artist statement: In late 2023 I weaned myself off coffee and started drinking tea. I thought of ways in which to repurpose the used tea bags, and I turned them into mini-canvases. I have painted over 150 used tea bags so far, inspired by a variety of subjects: floral motifs, seascapes, animal portraits, and still life. These paintings are part of this ongoing series.
Oormila Vijayakrishnan Prahlad is a widely published Indian-Australian artist, poet, and improv pianist.
