Artist’s note– As Editor in Chief of The Indianapolis Review, I normally would not publish my own work in an issue. However, we didn’t actually receive that many submissions for our zodiac issue, and I had these collages in my head, so I set about creating them. Besides writing poetry, one of my great passions is creating visual poetry or collage poems.
Natalie Solmer was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, and is a granddaughter of immigrants who were from Eastern Europe. She had a former life as a horticulturalist and florist and now teaches English and creative writing at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis. Her teenage sons are much cooler than her.
